Trim Level (Exterior)

Although the new Tahoe continues the established tradition of a body-on-frame design, it sports a wheelbase that's 4.9-inches longer than its predecessor. You can choose from six trims, namely the LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. Standard features include LED head- and taillights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, roof-mounted side rails, rain-sensing wipers, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, and black assist steps. The LT trim adds a hands-free liftgate, while the RST trim offers 22-inch bright machined wheels and wheel locks. With the off-road-focused Z71 trim comes all-terrain tires and a front fascia with a high-approach angle, while the Premier trim adds conveniences like a driver-side auto-dimming mirror. The High Country offers nice-to-haves like 22-inch Sterling Silver premium painted wheels and a special grille with bronze accents.

Engine (Power)

You can choose from three engines with the Tahoe, of which the two V-8s are updated versions of those included with last year's model. The standard engine is a capable 5.3-liter V-8 that provides 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Next in line is a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that creates a spirited output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, followed by a new turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine that generates 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All powertrains come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive is standard. You can also opt for an available all-wheel-drive system.

Performance

The Z71 and High Country trims of the new Tahoe feature a first-in-class Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, which allows you to adjust the vehicle's height for extra clearance when driving over rough terrain. Alternatively, for those times you require enhanced aerodynamics and efficiency, the ride height can be lowered again. You can also lower the vehicle when parked to comfortably enter and exit the vehicle.

Interior

The Tahoe's increased length makes for a roomier cabin that provides an additional 3 inches in the second row and over 10 inches in the third row. You'll also get a spacious cargo area of 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, which you can extend to 122.9 cubic feet when both rear rows are folded down. The new Tahoe also boasts a new 10.2-inch infotainment system, which includes six speakers, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, satellite radio, and HD radio. Other standard interior features include tri-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a cargo management system, cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and keyless open and start. Higher trims add conveniences like heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless charging, leather-appointed front seats, and a head-up display. You can also opt for an available rear entertainment system with two 12.6-inch displays.

Safety Features

The Tahoe offers impressive standard safety and driver-assist systems designed to keep you safe on the road. These include a forward-collision mitigation system, a passenger-sensing system, a rearview camera, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator.
